1 – Go to job fairs

 

Job fairs are a great way to get the ball rolling while you are still in college. It gives you the opportunity to find out what jobs are available in your field of study and the ability to ask questions of people working in those jobs. You can find out what the job is like and what the requirements are for you to get one if you are considering it as a career. 

 

You should fire up the resume builder before you go to one so you can have a few ready to hand out just in case. A job fair is not for interviews or hiring, but you never know if you might make a connection with somebody and they ask for one.  If they don’t then you still can use the experience to practice your skills with talking with employers.

 

2 – Go to the career center

 

The career center at your university is a resource that you should definitely be making good use of. There are people who can help you do things like practice for interviews, give you material on how to find the right job and sometimes even set you up with contacts in a particular industry. 

 

The counselors there sometimes have real world experience in the types of jobs you might be interested in and can give you some inside information. 

 

3 – Do an internship

 

During the summer you may be tempted to go work in a restaurant or soemthing similar to be able to make some extra money. Instead of doign that look into an internship at a company that is in your

5) Invest in stock. Stocks perform better than bonds or cash.

6) Avoid high interest debt. Credit cards and title loans are financial cancer.

7) Diversify. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
