Investing in Auto Insurance

investing in car insurance, car insurance tips, auto insurance advice

Investing in Auto InsuranceIf you’re a driver, please make sure that you have auto insurance. It is one of the most important things that any driver can have. Auto insurance protects drivers in case they get into a crash by providing them with coverage for car costs and possible medical bills. Before you purchase the insurance, there are a few things that you should go over.

Consider paying the premium at once

A lot of auto insurance companies offer six-month premium plans. You may have the option to pay it monthly, or you can pay it at once. If you want to save money, you should pay the premium at once. I’ll be the first to say that I still pay my car insurance monthly. I’m not at the point to drop over $600 every six months on it yet. As my debt continues to go down and y side income rises, that will eventually change. Hopefully, the change is sooner than later. If you pay your insurance monthly remember that the company will charge you a fee for the convenience. I’m charged an extra $5 each month.

Discounts

When looking for insurance ask your agent about the potential discounts that they offer. There are a lot of different ones out there such as having anti-lock brakes, having a good driving record or showing them documentation that you have completed a defensive driving course. I have several discounts on my policy. It saves me at least $70 on my premium.

Drive safely

The next step is to drive safely. People with clean driving records usually pay the least for their auto insurance premiums. Don’t be a reckless driver is you can help it. Accidents, tickets and moving violations can raise your premium. I’ve known people whose premiums went up by a couple of hundred bucks because of accidents and tickets. Your premium will go up because the company will look at you as a risk. If you don’t want to be considered as a risk and charged more, make sure that you obey the law and drive safely.

Switching your insurance

If you decide to switch auto insurance providers, make sure that you remember to cancel your old policy before you accept the new one. You don’t want to be paying money for one that you’re not using anymore.  Auto insurance can be pretty expensive. Make sure that you cancel the old policy so that there is no period of double payment.

How much coverage do you need?

Before you purchase your premium, figure out how much coverage you need. The lowest coverage accepted by your state may differ from other states. Make sure that you have the correct amount because you don’t want to get into any trouble.

Extra features

If you’re looking to save money, don’t add features to your car that will increase its value. If you do that your rates will increase. Insurance companies will look at you as a risk. Those extra features could make you a target for a thief. That’s why the insurance company will increase your rates.

Auto insurance is something that every driver needs. It will help them if they ever get into an accident. Make sure that you are getting the best price for it.

Do Food Stamps Roll Over?

Do Food Stamps Roll Over? Many people in the country are on food stamps. They come in handy if you have a change in income or if you lose your job. I was asked an interesting question the other day. Do food stamps roll over? What Are Food Stamps?

What Are Food Stamps?

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) grant food stamps to low-income families and individuals. These food stamps are actually vouchers which are issued by SNAP to help people in attaining the nutritious and healthy groceries and food items. SNAP’s aim is to eliminate malnutrition and hunger along with making the low-income families self-sufficient. These food stamps are food benefits that are issued on EBT cards and can be utilized each month for up to a year. SNAP funds are deposited every month into the EBT accounts of the eligible people. The dates may differ according to the case numbers, but they are deposited until 18th of each month. SNAP cards or EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards can be swiped at eligible stores card machines and can be used to buy food items such as dairy, meat, cooking items, etc.

Account Details

People who have been issued the EBT cards can check their account details by clicking on COMPASS Website. The COMPASS stands for common point of access to social services. Through the website all social services are accessible. To know the details of EBT account, people can enter their account numbers in the services section. After logging in, they can check the remaining balance.

One Year Rule

The benefits are valid for 365 days from the issue date. If the food stamps are not used within a year, they expire. If someone’s account is inactive, and they fail to get the benefits within 365 days, any food stamps left on the card will be canceled, and the account will be closed. If that person requires benefits, he/she will have to apply again. In all states, and in most cases, if a person doesn’t use the benefits of a month, they are transferred to the next month on their EBT cards. The EBT cards are valid in all states except Puerto Rico.

Benefits after closing the Case

If someone closes their case and there are still benefits on their EBT card, they can use them. Although in some conditions the benefits will be canceled. If a person is convicted of fraudulent or criminal activities, he /she will not be able to receive benefits. However, depending on the state, the implications may vary.

EBT cards expiration

All states use SNAP cards to deliver food stamps or other monetary assistance for low-income families. The cards have different names in different states. In New York, the SNAP card is called benefit card, whereas, in Ohio, it is called a Direction Card.
These cards may expire, validity may differ state wise. In Florida, the cards expire after every four years, and it is automatically replaced by a new card. In Massachusetts, the EBT cards never expire. In case someone loses their EBT cards they can contact the EBT customer care or service center in their states. The Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services website provides a complete list of phone numbers of EBT customer care for all states.

How to Pay For Plastic Surgery With Bad Credit?

getting plastic surgery, bad credit tips, loaning with bad credit

How to Pay For Plastic Surgery With Bad Credit?Hello, everyone.  Plastic surgery is something that I’ve never thought about before. I’m okay with my looks, and it’s expensive.  Sometimes people have accidents, or they want to change their appearance up (The Kardashians). Plastic surgery is a permanent way to get that done.  Everyone who wants to get plastic surgery may not have the nest credit. You may be wondering how you can pay for plastic surgery if your credit is bad. There are some ways out there that can help you save money.

One major way that you may be able to pay for plastic surgery is with unsecured financing. It’s not easy to get, though. If your credit is bad, the lenders will be less willing to approve an application. If your application is approved, the interest will be very high. Is that something that you want to have to worry about paying back? If so, there are two types of unsecured financing.

Payment plans

Payment plans are for patients that have bad credit history. They are typically set up by the hospital or doctor’s office where the surgery will be taking place. With payment plans, you will have a working relationship with the provider group. The provider will provide you with all the details of the payment plan such as the due date and the amount.

Online unsecured loans

The other type of unsecured financing is to apply for an online unsecured loan. With those type of loans, the lender does not need to know why you are borrowing the money. If you are approved for the loan, the money will go directly to your bank. That will give you the freedom to work with whatever plastic surgeon that you choose to. If you choose the unsecured finance option, make sure that you check the interest rates. They are usually higher especially if your credit is bad.

Flexible Spending Account

Another option is to use a Flexible Spending Account to pay for your plastic surgery. An FSA is an account that you can set up with your job. You put cash into it that you can use to pay for certain out of pocket health expenses. This money is not taxed. Anyone can set up an FSA with their place of employment. You just have to set it up to deposit enough money into the account once you get paid.

If you use your FSA for plastic surgery, you won’t need a credit check. Your employer won’t pull your credit. As I stated earlier, any employee can sign up for one. Your FSA also allows for plastic surgery financing at 0% interest rate. You will have to repay the loan with your pretax payroll deductions. That’s good because you won’t have to pay anything extra.

As you can see, there are some options for you to pay for plastic surgery if you have bad credit. Review the options and figure out which one works the best for you.

Would you consider getting plastic surgery if you had bad credit?

Creative Grocery Shopping Tips

Creative Grocery Shopping Tips

Creative Grocery Shopping TipsHello everyone. Last week I wrote a post on capping grocery expenses. Today I want to go in depth about some shopping tips. Feeding yourself and your significant other is the most important thing you must do. Without food, humans won’t survive. Food isn’t free, though. If you don’t work or have money, you won’t be able to eat. Being creative with your money will have more than enough food to feed your family. That way you’ll be able to go grocery shopping fewer times each month. Below are three tips to help you have enough cash to provide you to put food on your table.

Buy items in bulk

Many times buying in bulk is much cheaper than buying items in smaller quantities. The more things you buy, the cheaper things are when you think of them in terms of the quantity you’re receiving. An example would be a variety bag of potato chips with a count of 6 or a count of 14. You will pay more for count of 14 up front, but the price per bag of chips will be lower. One thing that you have to do is be careful. When you purchase things in bulk make sure that you pay attention to the expiration dates. You don’t want to buy anything that will expire soon.

Coupons

The second tip is to use coupons. Coupons are a great way to save money at the store. Using them the right way can help you get items for a really low price. Sometimes you may be able to even get things for free. You can use the coupons with items that are currently on sale. Depending on which store you shop at, you may be able to stack the store and manufacturer coupons to get a better price. You can print coupons from the food manufacturer’s website, or you can get them when you purchase the Sunday paper. I usually create my grocery list and then look for coupons that I can use.

Stockpile

The final tip is to stockpile items. Stockpiles are good to have because they allow you to get some items once a month or less. Some things you don’t need to buy every week Items like deodorant, canned veggies, tissue, and toothpaste are things that you can stockpile when the price is low. Things like chips, pop tarts, and frozen veggies should be bought in low amounts that you know you will be able to eat before they expire. You don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of food that’s expired. That would be a waste of money. The price of the items in the store will help you to decide if it’s time to stockpile or not. You should also think about the amount of space that you have in your fridge and cabinets.

Buying in bulk, using coupons and stockpiling things are three creative grocery shopping tips. By doing them, you will be able to save money on your food for you and your significant other.

Can Payment Be Stopped on a Cashiers Check?

cashier's check tips, cashier's check advice, stop payment on a cashier's check

Can a Payment Be Stopped on a Cashier's Check-Good morning Dinks. Today’s article asks an important question. Can payment be stopped on a cashier’s check? That’s a question that I never thought about before. I didn’t know the answer until a couple of days ago. Before I respond to that question, I want to briefly discuss what a cashier’s check is.

What is a cashier’s check?

A cashier’s check is a check that is guaranteed by a bank or a credit union. It is drawn from the institution’s funds and signed by the teller. Cashier’s checks are used in place of personal check or cash.

How to get a cashier’s check?

Getting a cashier’s check is pretty easy. The teller will make sure that the purchaser has enough funds in their account before they issue the cashier’s check. Make sure that you have sufficient funds in your account if you are using your own bank or credit union. That’s important because you want to ensure you can cover the full amount of the check and any possible fees you may have. The full amount of the check will be held in your account when the check is issued.

Fees

Many banks and credit unions charge a fee for a cashier’s check. That amount is less than $10. Some institutions offer free cashier’s checks to their customers. It depends on the type of account that they have. You can find information about the cashier’s check fees on your bank or credit union’s website.

Face to face

Everyone loves going to the drive through at the bank. It’s convenient. Most of the time you can get in and get out. If you want to get a cashier’s check, you have to go into the branch and speak with a teller face to face. You will have to show them your ID. You also have to tell them the exact amount of the check and the name of the payee. The bank or credit union will not allow you to get a blank cashier’s check. That helps you from overdrawing from your account. Once the bank teller makes sure that you have the funds in your account, the check will be written for the amount that you requested.

Now that I’ve gone over what a cashier’s check is, let’s return to the original question.

Can payment be stopped on a cashier’s check?

The answer is pretty much no. According to the US office of the comptroller of the currency, the only way that a cashier’s check can be stopped is if the check is fraudulent or if it is lost. With personal checks, you can put a stop payment on it if you need to. This is not possible with a cashier’s check.

Giving someone a cashier’s check is just like giving them cash. Once it’s done, it’s done. The only way you can get cash back from someone is if they agree to give it back to you. Once you’ve given the bank or credit union your money to get the cashier’s check, the bank has to honor it the same way it would with cash. Make sure that you are 100% ready when you’re deciding to use a cashier’s check.

The main reason that you can purchase stocks at $10 is that Loyal3 allows you to buy a fraction of a share. A fraction of a share is just that, a fraction. This lets you get started with the stocks.

Small investors

Loyal3 is geared towards small investors. Investors can purchase up to $2500 worth of stock, per stock, each month. This is gold if you’re a small investor.

It will ask you to input the usual information such as your contact info and how you want to fund the account. Robinhood uses instant verification with some of the large banks. That helps the transactions process quicker.

Robinhood has a few cons as well. One of them is that they only have one account option. They only support individual taxable accounts. Robinhood also lacks tools and resources. The site is basically for trading. You will have to do your research somewhere else.

As you can see Loyal3 and Robinhood are both platforms that new investors can look into. Review both of them and figure out which one you want to invest with.

Capping Grocery Expenses

grocery shopping tips, grocery expenses tips, grocery shopping

50 dollar grocery budgetGroceries can be pretty expensive. People spend a lot of money for food. If they are not careful, they can go overboard with that spending. Today, I want to go over a few ways that we cap our spending on our groceries. Any Dink can follow these tips. Let’s begin with the first one.

Budget

By now everyone should know what a budget is. You probably have one for different things that you spend on such as bills or entertainment. I want to ask you one simple question. Do you have one for your grocery expenses? If not, you should consider creating one soon. Many folks go grocery shopping every week. If you go weekly, a good amount to spend in the store would be $50. I’m sure that you can get enough food per week with fifty bucks.

What to eat

The next thing that you need to do is figure out what you want to eat. Are you on a diet? Do you like cooking? Do you shop at a particular store that only sells certain items? Those are just a few questions that you should eat. When I go grocery shopping, I try to get healthy food most of the time. Sometimes it’s easy for me to figure out what I want to eat for the week. Other times, it’s not easy because I may be fresh out of ideas.  Take about thirty minutes or an hour to think about what you want to eat.

Grocery list

After you’ve figured out what you want to eat, it’s time to create a grocery list. Your list should contain items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Having a grocery list will help to keep your spending at the 50 dollar budget. If you have a favorite brand of something, you will want to include that as well.  My grocery list isn’t usually too much. I typically shop at Trader Joe’s, Kroger and Walmart. My list for Trader Joe’s usually includes the following items: ground turkey, frozen mango’s, frozen blueberries, creamed honey, artichokes and crumbled feta cheese Those things would be under the 50 dollar budget.

Coupons

This is the secret weapon right here. You must bring some coupons to the store with you. They save money. I’ve been using coupons frequently for the last three months. I’ve noticed the savings. I’m sure that the same thing will happen to you too. There are several places where you can find coupons. The Sunday paper is always a good choice. You can also check on some of the food company’s websites. Don’t miss out on the savings.

Not shopping when hungry

This final tip is critical. I’ve made this mistake before and will never do it again. Don’t go shopping when you’re hungry. If you do that, there is a good chance you will go over your budget. When you’re hungry, you’re more likely to just start grabbing items whether they are on your list or not. Before you go shopping, make sure you eat something beforehand.

What have you done to cap your grocery expenses?

First Time Bike Insurance

bike insurance, first time bike insurance tips, bike insurance advice

First Time Bike InsuranceWhat’s going on Dinks? Do any of you ride motorcycles? If so, you may have had to shop around a little bit for insurance. It can be hard to figure out how much motorcycle insurance will be for the first time rider. There are several factors that you have to consider.

Road experience

One thing that the insurance company will take into account is the amount of road experience that a rider has. If you’re a brand new rider, you can expect to pay a little more than someone who’s been riding for a while. Besides road experience, the insurance company will also consider the riders age, where the bike will be kept, the type of bike and the person’s zip code. That’s a lot of things to be taken into consideration.

Age

Age is the next factor. As expected, younger riders are likely to pay more for their insurance. Just like with cars, they are considered high risks for accidents. The older that they get, the more experience that they will have. Younger riders who stay in or around an area that is considered high crime may also find that their insurance quote may be a little more.

Bike usage

Bike usage is the next thing on the list. If your bike is your primary mode of transportation, you will be given a higher quote than if it isn’t. If you’re using your bike for leisure activities, you will pay a cheaper amount since you’re not using it every day. With car insurance, it can be the same way. If you drive your car less than a certain number of miles each year, your insurance will be less.

Engine size

If you are a first-time bike rider, you should avoid buying a bike that had a large engine as your first bike. Bikes with larger engines are more powerful and newer drivers may struggle to keep control. That makes you a higher risk because you could easily wreck the bike.  If you have a lot of wrecks, your premium will go up. The smart thing to do is to spend a few years riding a small bike. Doing that will keep your premiums low. Also, your risk of an accident will be much less. With that happening, you might even have a chance of receiving a no claims bonus when it comes to renewing your policy. If for some reason your plan does go up, shop around and find a cheaper company.

Compare prices

Before you buy a bike, you should use a price comparison website to find out how much the different insurance companies are likely to charge before you make that purchase. A lot of new riders can expect their insurance to be a little expensive during that first year. It is possible to get that price lowered in a year or two. Make sure that you are a safe rider.

As you can see, there are several things that first-time bike riders have to consider when it comes to getting bike insurance. Your road expenses, your age, your bike usage, your engine size and price comparison are just a few things that first-time bike riders should think about. Once you get those things figured out, it will be time to choose an insurer.

Spending Less on Groceries

grocery tips, budgeting on groceries, frugal foodie

Spending LessonGroceriesHello, everyone. You are not alone if you are looking for ways to spend less on groceries these days. Grocery bills account for a significant chunk of monthly household expenditures, and many families are looking for ways to meet their nutritional needs while still cutting back. Here are some tips to help you cut back on this major household expense.

Nourishment, not entertainment

In our modern culture, food and advertising have combined to create a food is entertainment mentality. Certain colors of packaging, for example, are used by food markets to get people to buy their product over another product.

For you the shopper, recognizing that foods nutritional value, not its packaging is what influences your buying decision is a significant step in the money saving direction. With this mindset, it’s a no-brainer as to whether you buy the sack of potatoes or the bag of potato chips.

Cook at home

You may be thinking that cooking at home means more grocery shopping and therefore more grocery expense. This is true. You will spend more on groceries if you start eating in all the time instead of eating out. You will spend less on food overall if you don’t do this because you will be spending money on groceries that you’d normally spend on eating out. Yes, your grocery bill will be more, buy your food bill will be less. I’ve been cooking at home for several years now. I know for a fact that I’ve saved a couple of thousand dollars.

Consider two people going out for a nice dinner that isn’t too expensive, say $30 for two. Now take that $30 to a grocery store, you can buy food for more than one meal for two, so try to make it a habit to cook and eat in for at least one meal every day and work up to eating out being the exception rather than the rule.

Whole food

When you buy food that has been altered from its original state (dried, cooked, frozen, sugared, juiced) you are paying for those items to be processed that way. Buying food as close to its natural state is very important. Whole fish filets, for instance, are cheaper per meal than frozen fish sticks. Flour is in terms of how many loaves of bread you can make from it, cheaper than pre-baked, store bought bread. Fresh apples are less expensive than frozen apple pie. Before you buy food, think about how far it’s come from its original state.

Amounts cost

It’s not just the dollar or cents amounts that make the difference between an affordable food and a too expensive one. For instance, you may be comparing a bag of dry pinto beans with a can of pinto beans. The can is $0.80, and the bag is $1.10. The canned beans are cheaper, actually, you may think, it. The bag of dried beans will give you at least seven cups of cooked beans for $1.10, whereas the can will only give you two cups for $0.80. Once again, greater processing such as canning requires more steps and labor than drying and bagging. This translates to a greater expense. As you can see, saving money on groceries is a lot about mentality Coupons and sales are great and can help, but getting your mind on how food works and how to make it work for you is key.

Three Things to Try Before Accepting Foreclosure

foreclosure tips, getting foreclosed, property foreclosure

Accepting foreclosureHello, everyone. Today’s topic is an interesting. If you’re renting an apartment or a house, you won’t have to worry about the possibility of this happening to you anytime soon. If you own your house, hopefully, you have the funds to pay the mortgage each month continuously. If you are having problems paying your mortgage, you may get to a point where you eventually have to face foreclosure. If foreclosure is looming on the horizon, now is the time to kick it into gear.  Just because you’ve had trouble making payments doesn’t mean you have to lose your home. There’s an excellent chance you can avoid foreclosure. There are three things you can try before accepting foreclosure.

Re-Amortization or repayment plans

If you still have a good source of income but have just fallen behind on your payments, a re-amortization plan or repayment plan can help. Their plans are predicated on you being able to make all your payments in the future. That means that the loan as a whole works for you, but you just couldn’t pay temporarily due to financial hardship. The way it works is your lender basically, wraps all your overdue payments into your old loan, then re-amortizes (redistributes) those accounts over the course of the loan. Once you’re past due payments are re-amortized, you can continue making your payments as normal.

Another similar option is a repayment plan. Instead of re-amortizing your back payments, you and your lender could just work on a repayment plan of some sort. This will be a little tougher for you because the back payments will be distributed over a shorter time, say three years instead of 20 years. It is easier to sell the lender on that than re-amortization.

Loan Modification

The next thing that you should look into is a loan modification. What if you just can’t afford your loan in its current condition at all? Your lender may still be willing to work with you. In this case, you will need to rework your loan from the ground up entirely. Different monthly payments, different length or the loan, possible a different interest rate and payment terms. A loan modification goal is to take your existing loan and transform it into something that makes more sense for your financial situation. There are several companies that you can choose from. Lending Tree, Quicken Loans, and Greenlight Loans are three of them that you can choose from.

Short sale, deed in lieu

Finally, if you really can’t continue to afford your home, you can still avoid foreclosure by working with your bank in an amicable way. One way to do this is to help them find a buyer. If you can find a buyer for the home, the bank may be willing to accept the buyers bid and forgive any additional amount you’d owe the bank. This is called a short sale. With short sales, the price is usually set by the agent, and the seller, not the bank Lowball offers get slow or no response.

Another option is to do a “deed in lieu.” This is where you just give the bank the house. In exchange, the bank releases you from the mortgage. This helps the bank avoid the trouble of having to actually foreclose on the house. Both a short sale and a deed in lieu will have a severely adverse impact on your credit.
