go to NYC cheap

Good morning Dinks.  I just got back from a weekend getaway to New York City and I had a great time.  I love New York so much and I always have a great time when I visit the city.  This time I had a really great trip in New York City, I had a wonderful day at an event and I got an amazing deal on my whole trip, so that makes the entire weekend a little bit better – don`t you agree?

Getting a good deal on an already great vacation makes the trip even better. I like to share my life experiences, both good and bad, so I am going to let you know how I spent the weekend in NYC for only $400.

Save money on your next vacation with these three tips:

Look for cheap ways to travel

The reality of our world is that the cheapest way to travel is not always the most convenient way to travel; you may have to travel a little longer or a day earlier in order to save a little bit of money.  Before you take your next trip try to research the cheapest way to get to where you want to be. Check bus, train and flight schedules to find the cheapest way to travel that fits into your schedule.  You can also check with your friends to see if they can travel with you or if you can car pool. Less money that you spend on travel is more money that you can spend on other experiences while on vacation. I took the bus to NYC and it only cost $124 round trip.

Find a deal on your hotel room

There is a fine line between finding a good deal on a hotel room and putting yourself in danger.  I usually travel alone so being safe is a big factor for me when I take a vacation.  However, I also don’t want to be sleeping in a room full of bugs, so I try to find a really good deal on a four star hotel room in a semi-safe neighbourhood.

How do I do it? I use discount websites to book my travel accommodations.  I love booking my vacations with Priceline because if you don’t find a hotel room at the price you want you can always name your own price.  I booked my weekend stay in NYC for only $345 through Priceline.

Another option you have is to use a place like Air BNB where you can rent a room for cheap.

Discover ways to have fun for cheap

I love to spend money on experiences in new cities. I like to eat the food, shop at local stores and buy things that I can’t find where I live and I really like to attend events and conferences because I get to try new products and meet new people.

During my weekend trip to NYC I went to SELF Workout in the Park. It is a full day event of fitness classes from Crunch Gym.  I have never actually exercised outside and I have to say that I loved it. There is something about being outside in the fresh air while working out that makes the whole experience that much better. I spent the day in Central Park, tried out new workout classes and got lots and lots of swag for only $20.  I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a day.

Many local attractions and museums offer discount prices on certain days of the week, some even have periods of free admission.  If you plan to visit a local attraction while on your next vacation check out their website first or other discount websites – I like Broadway Box Office –   before you buy your tickets.

MANAGE YOUR MONEY TOGETHER

Here are some simple guidelines for DINKS to build wealth:

1) Collaborate: Meet regularly to talk about money, set goals together, track and monitor them.

2) Understand and respect your partner. Take time to understand your partners values about money.

3) Watch the numbers. Get a budget, monitor your spending and track your net worth.

4) Max your retirement. Maximize contributions to your tax deferred retirement accounts.

5) Invest in stock. Stocks perform better than bonds or cash.

6) Avoid high interest debt. Credit cards and title loans are financial cancer.
