Miel and I have the joint goal of attaining networth of $4,000,000.00 by the time we are both 65. Most of the calculations we’ve made on-line seem to suggest that we can do it.
Why 4 million? That’s approximately 1 million in today’s dollars, assuming that future inflation patterns behave similarly to past inflation trends.
Here it is:
A few notes:
* The real estate category includes both our home as well as an investment property of ours in DC. Even thought its slowed a bit, the market in DC in our neighborhood s still strong.
* Most of the collectables category contains commodities, mostly silver and gold.
* The bulk of the stock is three issues, Hansens Natural, an energy company and Dominos Pizza. I enjoy eating dominos and drinking hansens so I figgure both of these are pretty good investments. Also, gas prices aren’t going anywhere but up, at least in the short term, so energy is a good bet right now. There are a few shares of the Vanguard S+P 500 index fund in there also, but I didn’t want to clutter up the post, so I left that category out.
If you enjoy discussing stocks, feel free to drop us a line. We are always interested in discussing whats going on the markets!
Best,
James & Miel
